Definition :

        Shingles is an acute infection . It is caused by the herpes zoster. This virus is also responsible for chickenpox. The reactivation off this unwanted virus triggers the Shingle.
The risk of a shingle is higher after one passes his 50's. Shingles are very painful and involves inflammation of sensory nerves.
The shingle rash covers only a small part of the body. It appears like shingles on a roof. It follows the nerves on only one side of the body. It can reappear even though you already had it once.

        Shingles causes blisters,numbness and itching. It is contagious to other people that have not yet had chickenpox. The pain will persist even for some years after the complete healing of the rash. this is named or known as post-herpetic neuralgia.
