Shingles ComplicationsComplications of shingles usually appear in elderly people or to people with a weakened immune system. The young people and those that are healthy rarely suffer shingles complications. The bad news is that to some people these complications are really life-threatening. If you feel that you have complication go to the doctor immediately. List of shingles complications: - Common shingles complications are :1. Postherpetic Neuralgia (PHN)2. Hutchinson's Sign 3. Ramsay Hunt Syndrome 4. Bacterial Skin Infection 5. Infection of Internal Organs 6. Eye Damage 7. Meningitis 8. Motor Neuropathy - Paralysis 9. Temporary blindness 10. Ear damage 11. Encephalitis Postherpetic neuralgia is recognized by hyperesthesia along the distribution of a cutaneous nerve and persistent burning pain.This must be the most common complication.After the rash is already healed the pain can persist for months.It is rather hard to treat.the skin becomes so sensitive that even a breeze or the clothing can produce excruciating pain.In many cases it lead to depression... Hutchinson's sign is recognized by a single blister on the nose. It will cause swellin of the eye and this will be painful. The bad news it that it usually causes temporary blindness. The best thing to do it to go to the ophthalmologist as soon as possible. Bacterial Skin Infection is done by scratching the skin when the rashes appear. Do not scratch because you risk putting the bacteria in your skin.A sign that you suffer this complication is that the rash will not heal. The shingles zoster virus can easily spread in the body and attack lungs ,the brain and other vital organs. this usually happens to people the have an weakened immune system from medication or other diseases like HIV or cancer. This spread of the zoster virus can lead to pneumonia and other worst complications. |
