Is Shingles a contagious disease?

        Shingles is not considered a fully contagious disease. It can although be transmitted by direct contact with the open wound blisters or rashes of someone who has it. The matter of contagious shingles depends the most on the health condition of the person. This means that if a very healthy person comes in contact with the diseased person that coughed or sneezed will most likely not get shingles.

        So, practically shingles is contagious to people that have a weakened immune system and already have the chickenpox virus in their system.
